Nathan and Matt's first 5K

Back in August, when we started school, Nathan and I began training for a 5K. Unfortunately, I ended up with shin splints that forced me to stop running. So, Matt took over (it's just easier for him to run to begin with). He and Nathan completed their first 5K last Saturday. Nathan finished in 30:02 and Matt in 30:03. They did great! Here are a few pictures:

starting school

We started school today.  This is our third year of homeschooling.  Nathan is third grade (well, by age anyway) and Caroline is Kindergarten.  Sara is doing a little work as well, but I think it might be a challenge to keep her from doing Caroline's work as well.  :)  I didn't take any pictures today, but I'll try to get some this week.

double toothless (take two)

On Wednesday (May 9th), Caroline lost her first tooth. We had been told by the hygienist back in March that it was a moving a little, but Caroline hadn't said anything more about it. Well, on Wednesday, it was just about ready to come out. I had already warned Matt that he might have to pull it after church. It was so loose that I had even tried to pull it...and I DO NOT like wiggly teeth. A little later, Caroline came and told me that her tooth had come out. I asked her where it was and she said she didn't know. Great...she had been eating some peanuts. I was pretty sure I knew where it went...down with the peanuts.

Her second tooth was also wiggling and I knew it wouldn't be too many days before it was ready to come out. On Thursday, it was very wiggly. After Matt got home, I encouraged both he and Caroline to try and pull it. I didn't want another swallowed tooth. She hollered a little, but as soon as it was out she was happy. Now we have a double toothless girl!

In case you are wondering...the first tooth was retrieved. Caroline really wanted that first tooth (and so did her Mommy).
